Goth Love (Part 4) - Urban Goth by Day

I'm very happy to share this set of images with you, which were taken on a sunny day back in September which still felt like summer. I intended to share them on the blog shortly after, but the blog was still under construction, and then the season changed to autumn. But now spring is in the air (at last!), and I feel my seasonal depression beginning to lift, slowly but surely. I'm super excited to feel warm again, and start wearing the summer clothes which have been put away for months. Longer days are also something I'm looking forward to, and the sense of possibility they bring. It's come to my attention that I'm more than a little obsessed with the weather, but maximum temperatures and prevailing winds are such important considerations, don't you think, when it comes to getting dressed?

Anyway, while looking through these images, the notion of an urban, nine to five goth came to mind. I would describe the outfit as gothic-inspired like many of the things I wear, but a little softer for daytime, and my favourite kind of outfit to wear for official business.

Blouse - Ebay (originally L'ART De River Island), Blazer - A Wear, Trousers - Principles Petite by Ben De Lisi (similar), Footwear - Lonsdale, Sunglasses - Ted Baker at T.K Maxx, Deer Brooch - Vintage (Ebay - similar), Pearl Bow Stud Earrings (below) - part of a multi-pack from Oasis, Handbag - Voodoo Vixen (similar)

I love this unusual detail on the garment label, a quote which reads  'The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about'.

Left my Heart in Tokyo

I really love this adorable jumper with its bright geisha motif, which I came across quite unexpectedly during an impromptu shopping trip after work recently, and was delighted to find. I've long had a fascination with geisha customs and of course the intricate hair and make-up styles. Although I can't see myself being quite so committed to a fully-made up look, or possessing the grace and manners of a formally trained geisha, it was lovely to don this jumper and capture an essence of the geisha, if only for a day. I took pictures both inside and outside, on a very cold and windy day. The sun made a brief appearance but, like most good things, was gone too soon. Oh and the title of this post is a reference to the song by Mini Viva, which you can listen to here.

Jumper - Joy, Blazer - Oasis, Trousers - Principles Petite by Ben De Lisi (similar), Footwear - Lonsdale, Bag - Voodoo Vixen, Gloves - Tu (Sainsbury's), Sunglasses - Ted Baker at T.K Maxx, Owl stud earrings - part of a multipack from Dorothy Perkins, Polka dot collar top (worn underneath in indoor images) - Principles by Ben De Lisi

Would you like to be a geisha for a day?
